A re-elected Morrison Government will deliver $500,000 to support the completion of a new temple in Taylor for BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
Liberal Senator for the ACT, Zed Seselja, said the funding would support the installation of security infrastructure and equipment.
“All Australians have the right to feel safe and secure while practising their faith,” Minister Seselja said.
“Canberra has a strong and vibrant multicultural community and supporting communities to come together and celebrate their faith and their culture, will ensure Canberra remains a vibrant multicultural community into the future.”
“BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha regularly have more than 250 attendees at their weekly congregations in Canberra, and the new temple project was undertaken to support their worship.
“A long-standing dream of the Hindu community in Canberra to have a place of worship will be fulfilled by the construction of this Temple.
“I’m proud to secure this funding for the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (temple), supporting such a vibrant and giving part of the Canberra community.
The temple and community centre will serve as a place of worship, have a community and congregation hall, a commercial kitchen and appropriate security infrastructure.
Only the Morrison Government has a plan to deliver a strong economy and a stronger future for the ACT.
